King Amenhotep's treasures

Been painting these up for an RPG I'm currently running based (loosely) around the Dreadfleet boardgame by GW.

They're a part of the army of this chap - King Amenhotep the Intolerant. A WIP of him...

High Elves - the Lothern Sea Guard

Way way back in October last year, I bought an Island of Blood set and with it came 10 of these High Elves Lothern Sea Guard. I started to paint them back in January this year, and then it all became just too damn hard, so I put them to one side. Then in July, I bought another 10, also half started and then put aside. But FINALLY, they're (more or less) done! Huzzah! (More or less because I need to finish off the banner, but that's only an hour or so's work).

And speaking of the sea and those that sail upon it, my next project might just have something to do with pieces of eight and parrots.

King of the Hill

I completed my first ever gaming terrain last night. It's nade it out of some server packing foam ripped into smaller pieces then glued to a movement tray - and then some pollyfiller/spackle slapped on top. Glued and covered in sand, then painted the sand Khemi Brown before drybrushing it with Deneb Stone. Then a mixture of grasses glued on. Looks reasonable for a first go I think. If I do another, it will be bigger though as there really isn't room enough for more than 10 figures on the top of the hill.

Knights of the Order of the Panther

I've been slowly painting up these Empire Knights as members of the Order of the Panther. Slowly because as figures they're really not that inspiring. Rumor control has it that they may be replaced next year with a new set which would be good since these have been in production since 1999 or 2000.

Anyway, almost done. Just need to tidy up them a little, print off a banner and add some flocking to the bases.

On a completely different note, I found this chap drowned on my back deck this afternoon. A fairly impressive example I must say.

About 5cm/2 inches in legspan...

Skaven & Scenery - two great flavours that taste great together

Actually I suspect that would taste pretty damn foul.

But I do have Skaven pictures. First up, a completed unit of frenzied plague monks

And this warlord who was the Gamesday figure is nearly completed, just needs some tidying up and the base done...

And I also have some nearly done scenery, in this case the Dreadstone Blight - an abandoned former wizzards tower. Can't quite finish it as I need to pin the second level floor to the surrounding walls and don't have the means to do so right now.

Carlos Hathcock in Vietnam dio

This was my entry for the last competition at Bennosfigures.com. I didn't place anywhere, but that was because all the other entries were very very good.

Figures are from Pegasus's US Marines in Vietnam set, and a great set it is too.

The original photo that I was trying to copy is this one I picked up from Militaryphotos.net...

...and here is my version...

If I was doing it again, I'd take more time to remove the mould lines and to make the base match up with the feet.

An update - At last!

Sorry for the lack of updates. I got sick (not even able to paint for a while there) and then the weather wasn't co-operating when it came to taking pictures. But today it all came together at last.

So, left over from last months 'Elf n Safety, a repeat bolt thrower...

And new for this month, some additions to the might Beastman army...

Firstly some Ungors

And another unit of Gors, these ones all with two hand weapons - my unit of choice if only because it makes ranking them up easier.

More High Elves

More Elves for 'Elf n Safety month, this time it's Spearmen and Archers. Should have a bolt thrower finished today at some point too.

This view gives a better look at the unit champion...

Haven't finished the standard for the spearmen as I haven't decided on what I want it to look like.

'Elf n Safety

I decided that August would be my 'Elf n Safety month (the safety bit being replacing all my blunt hobby knife blades). Picked up an Elf Battalion boxed set just before the new "even bloody higher" GW prices kicked in as well as some more Island of Blood elves. The aim is to have about 2500 points of High Elves, enough to match the other three armies.

Off to a good start with the Sword Masters of Hoeth being complete.

The Warherd is called!

My Warhammer Beastman army comes together, ready to do battle with their cousins in Chaos - the Skaven. I've spent the last two weeks or so getting these tidied up, onto movement trays, with painted banners and so forth.

The battline stretches across the table, Minotaurs, Gors, Ungors, Warhounds and more...

Even the creature they call "The Blessed One" although the blessings of Chaos are strange indeed...

Drawn to the smell of blood, Chaos Warhounds are unleashed upon the foe...

The Beastigors, elite of the Beastmen prepare to charge. There will be good eating tonight...

An Ungor regiment prepares for battle. If they do well, they will be allowed to feast on the scraps that the rest of the Gor's leave behind. If they fail, they may well end up being the feast...

The Battle Standard Bearer of the army. His presence inspires the Beastmen to even greater acts of savagery. I suspect he also inspires humans facing him not to get captured...

And a shot from the other side of the battlefield. "Stamp and trample! Gor and crush!"

14th of July Challenge

Over at the very cool Gloranthan Army blog , they are running a challenge to post a picture of your army on parade today - the 14th of July.

Here is the bulk (certainly the painted bulk) of my Warhammer Empire Army.

Lots of canons, plenty of musketiers and a smattering of swordsmen and halbardiers.

Not quite finished, but soon to join are some knights and some mounted pistoliers.
