High Elf Cavalry

Following on from my last post, some other stuff I've been working on and a contrast in styles.

High Elf cavalry comes in three flavours - The Elyrian Reavers (fast cavalry), The Silverhelms (normal cavalry) and The Dragon Princes (elite cavalry).

Both the Reavers and the Dragon Princes have had new figures in the past 3 years and they're fantastic - albiet highly detailed and a PITA to paint. The Silverhelms date back to 1999 and are very ordinary.

High Elves - The Maiden Guard

I recently picked up these off Trademe for a quite reasonable price (I've seen people asking for over US$100 for the full set of 10)! These are a WIP, but late in the piece. I need to tidy up the robes, finish off the spears and a couple of other niggling things.

I do quite like the figures, but they are VERY small indeed, especially when placed besides other GW figures of a more recent make (eg Wood Elf way watchers).

On a completely different topic, one of the reasons why I haven't been able to take many pictures recently to put on this blog has been the dire summer weather here.

I took this pictures this afternoon to show just what it's been like.

High Elves - the Lothern Sea Guard

Way way back in October last year, I bought an Island of Blood set and with it came 10 of these High Elves Lothern Sea Guard. I started to paint them back in January this year, and then it all became just too damn hard, so I put them to one side. Then in July, I bought another 10, also half started and then put aside. But FINALLY, they're (more or less) done! Huzzah! (More or less because I need to finish off the banner, but that's only an hour or so's work).

And speaking of the sea and those that sail upon it, my next project might just have something to do with pieces of eight and parrots.

More High Elves

More Elves for 'Elf n Safety month, this time it's Spearmen and Archers. Should have a bolt thrower finished today at some point too.

Haven't finished the standard for the spearmen as I haven't decided on what I want it to look like.

'Elf n Safety

I decided that August would be my 'Elf n Safety month (the safety bit being replacing all my blunt hobby knife blades). Picked up an Elf Battalion boxed set just before the new "even bloody higher" GW prices kicked in as well as some more Island of Blood elves. The aim is to have about 2500 points of High Elves, enough to match the other three armies.

Off to a good start with the Sword Masters of Hoeth being complete.

I finally managed to finish the final figures from the Island of Blood set I bought back in September last year - the high elf noble on griffin and the wizzer. Happy enough with the results although were I to do it again, I'd certainly do some things differently. Might take some pictures of the wizzer later as he looks pretty good too.

They're going onto Trademe for auctioning this evening as I really don't have room for another Warhammer army in my life (nor the budget).
